Research

We met with Ben to figure out what we need to be looking into for planning the press. Currently Zena is researching names for other press companies with a fine art slant so we can make an informed decision when we decide on a name for the press here at Lawrence. I am looking into print artists to find people that could come to campus. Finally, Elyse is looking into letterpress equipment that is available taking into consideration transportation and shipping needs.

Hey ya all,

The official name for the LU printmaking club is "ThInk" (get it.."the" "ink").
Soooo, this means we need to come up with a sweet and super artsy logo. Brainstorm ideas, doodle, etc...and give ideas to ME!!! (Lawrence mailbox # 1026).

LU Printmaking Club is Born!

Hello fellow printmaking enthusiasts, old and new. I would like to let you all know that LUCC has agreed to recognize us as an official University club..HORRAY!! (insert loud cheers and clapping here.) Next on our list of to dos is to attend a budget meeting...and hopefully it will go through so that we can start teaching and creating in the lovely printmaking realm. Cross your fingers!

As a further step to the official club business, we are setting a goal to become a self sustainable club. Yes friends, we will be entrepreneurs of art. As a club we will host printmaking artists and workshops that will be available to the Lawrence and Appleton Communities. Events such as these will help build funds which will be put towards public workshops, visiting artists, and supplies to make sell-able art.

Meetings occur Tuesday afternoons in the Wriston Arts Center 2D studio at 4:30pm. Our next project will be to make posters to advertise the club. Once our budget goes through we will plan our first event and see what funds we can take in!

Art On!
Lovingly,
Elyse-Krista
